New study in Nature Communications simulated global bird migrations during scenarios of past climate conditions. The paper, product of an international collaboration within the Max Planck-Yale Center for Biodiversity Movement and Global Change (MPYC), shows that toward the present some parts of the World, such as North America, have seen migratory distances significantly increase. The study’s findings and simulation framework have the potential to inform about the potential impacts of future climate change on bird migrations.
